Setting up an independent Power Producer Project requires many strategic decisions. With global market experience on over 5GW of solar PV, solar CSP and wind energy projects, VA Dynamic Energy supports clients in strategic decision making and execution.
Strategic Project Planning Support
To help projects get up and running during the pre-development phase, we assist with grid connection strategy and connection application process. For smaller projects or facilities, we support in tariff analysis, energy consumption, efficiency, and co-generation strategies.
Strategic Development Support
Once a project site has been identified, we assist with site suitability assessments in terms of electrical connection, energy yield estimations, energy storage capacity analysis as well as equipment option analysis.
Technical Advisory Support
For project owners, investors, funders, and lenders we support with project document reviews, such as the PPA, EPC Contract Technical Schedules, O&M Contract Technical Schedules, TSA, LTSA, Balance-of-Plant Contracts and DCUoSA (Distribution Connection and Use-of-System Agreement).
Independent Engineering Support
Every PPA requires a technical advisor that is independent of the Buyer and Seller of power. We support project PPAs with Independent Engineering services that ensure that all technical parameters of the Power Purchase Agreement are adhered to by both parties.

About
VA Dynamic Energy was founded by Thinus van As, a Graduate Electrical Engineer. Thinus obtained a B.Eng. (Electrical/Electronic) in 2001 from the University of Stellenbosch. In 2003 he received an M.Sc.Eng. (Electrical), also from the University of Stellenbosch. In 2017 he completed four MBA modules from the University of Warwick Business School.
Founded in 2010, VA Dynamic Energy started operating in earnest in 2022. The founder, Thinus van As, brings electrical engineering experience covering feasibility studies, preliminary design and costing, design, due-diligence, construction monitoring and operations monitoring. He gained experience in the buildings, infrastructure, municipal services, and energy generation industries. He also has comprehensive experience in conducting contract reviews, contract negotiations, tender process, technical schedule drafting, grid connections and grid code compliance assessment reviews. Key assignments included close cooperation with professional teams, authorities, and the Client to ensure that technical requirements of are adhered to and that the project is delivered successfully. Thinus provided professional services to over 10 business/industrial precinct projects, over 20 residential infrastructure- and over 15 building projects—including business precincts, residential estates, shopping centres, malls, schools, laboratories, showrooms, office blocks, clinics, and hospitals. Since 2010, Thinus has worked on due-diligence, supervision, management, and electrical engineering design aspects on over 5GW of renewable energy projects, including solar PV and wind energy technologies. Professional services were provided during project development, bidding, procurement support, optioneering, resource assessment, energy generation modelling, design & specification, financial close, construction and operational phases.
